"Returning - Live" by Victory House Worship: Waiting with Fire in Our Lamps


“Returning — Live” by Victory House Worship makes us aware that all of creation seems to hold its breath. “The earth is groaning for redemption, Creation reaches for Her King.” That’s the present-day reality that the apostle Paul described centuries ago, and Victory House Worship beautifully captures that in this song. The lyrics don’t dwell only on what Jesus already did at the cross; it looks forward. “The oil in our lamps is burning, For Him who was and is and is returning.” That line carries the whole weight of our Christian hope: Past, present, and future, all coming together in One. Jesus!

Victory House Worship - Returning - LiveThe bridges elaborates on this hope, comparing His first coming with His second coming. “Though You came as a Lamb, You’ll return as a Lion.” Gentleness gave way to sacrifice once. With His next coming, sacrifice will give way to triumph. Romans 8:22–23 describes the groaning: “the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now… waiting eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.”

Waiting can be so hard, don’t you agree? The world around us seems to be deteriorating. Environmental changes that some pretend aren’t happening. Moral decay is becoming the new normal. The value of a life is changing through politics. The list goes on and on… and here we are, living in a hopeful tension between the empty tomb and the open sky. But this waiting isn’t passive; we can sit still! We are called to keep our lamps burning. Being a light to the world. Living a life as if the King could walk through the clouds any moment, just as He promised is going to happen. May this truth shape how you treat people, spend your time, and carry your hope into rooms full of despair. May this truth also help you to realize that there may not be a second or a third chance. The time for action (and to get it right the first time) is now!

Give this song a listen and let it ignite/stir up the fire within you. Shine in the world, be a light to the people around you. May the chorus become your own cry. “Come, Jesus come, let Heaven open wide as glory floods the skies.”

Background:

The hope of Jesus isn't only behind us in the empty tomb. It's also ahead of us in His return. 

Jesus is alive. He is reigning. And He is coming again. 

Creation is groaning. His Church is waiting. The Bride is making herself ready. And one day, the skies will open, the trumpet will sound, every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. 

Until then, we wait with expectation. "COME, JESUS COME!"

"Stand By Me" by Daniel Aranda: Finding Steadiness in Life's Storms

Who’s standing with you in the storm? “Stand By Me” by Daniel Aranda is an amazing rendition of a hymn written by Charles Albert Tindley in 1905. Tindley was the son of a former slave, a man who knew what it meant to need help that wasn’t guaranteed. He didn’t write from comfort. He wrote from the middle of a fight, and that’s exactly why the song is still so relevant and cherished by many today. Daniel Aranda’s recording brings gospel legends Terry Blackwood and Charlie McCoy into that same lineage, carrying Tindley’s plea forward into a new generation.  The lyrics move through life’s troubles, one verse at a time. “When the storms of life are raging, stand by me”  — that’s not poetic exaggeration. "Paper Lantern Heart" by MK Green: When God Lights a Fire You Can't Contain

What happens when God lights a fire in you?  Some fires refuse to stay hidden. MK Green wrote “Paper Lantern Heart” around that exact truth, inspired by Jeremiah 20:9, where the prophet admits that he tried to stop preaching but simply couldn’t. The Word burned inside him “like a fire shut up in my bones.” Green’s lyrics echo that same struggle: “Behind the bones inside my chest there burns a paper heart.” Cold turns to burning. Silence turns to song. “I was cold as stone until You lit a spark,” the chorus declares, and something about that image sticks with you long after the music fades.  Here’s the question worth pondering: What do you do when God ignites something in you that won’t stay quiet?  Jeremiah tried holding it in, and that exhausted him. “There is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot” (Jeremiah 20:9).
