Can you rest while everything around you feels uncertain?
Jerovia recorded “Shepherd Forever” live in the woods. There were no studio walls and controlled conditions to create a perfect sound, just an honest resolve to let go and let God.
The song title, “Shepherd Forever”, and the song outro take our thoughts to a scene with sheep grazing in an open field. The sheep don’t have any armor, and neither do they have a plan. Still, they rest because the Shepherd is watching over them.
Think about that scene and ask yourself, when was the last time that you rested like that? Most of us carry our worries around with us, worries that pop up in every quiet moment we have… sometimes screaming for attention while we try to focus on more important activities. We even tend to grip those worries tighter as they grow heavier. This song invites us to loosen our grip, open our hands, and surrender them to the Lord.
Listen to the promise at the heart of this song: “Surely Your goodness and mercy shall follow me, all the days of my life.” Jerovia sings it again and again, the way you repeat a truth until it settles in. The repetition is practice here, not a filler.
It’s possible that you already recognized the words of this promise. David wrote those words in Psalm 23:6: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Notice the verb that is used. Goodness and mercy follow, they’re not waiting for you to first cross the finish line. They walk behind you on your commute, down the hospital corridor, and into the conversation you're dreading.
So hand over your worries/burden to God today. Start by naming one worry out loud and placing it in the Shepherd’s care. Then watch what follows next: a small kindness, a door that opens, a peace you never manufactured. You are not a lamb who wandered too far. Your home is prepared: “I will dwell in the house of the Lord, forever and ever.”
Take a few minutes today to find a quiet spot, maybe in a park, away from the noise, and listen to “Shepherd Forever — Acoustic.” Let the lyrics and the strumming of the guitar slow your breathing and calm the noise. Sing along. “The Lord is my Shepherd // Forever and evermore.”

Background:
This is a melody of an honest resolve to let go and let God. I recorded this live in the woods which gives it a special meaning to be a lamb resting in the assurance of safety in the arms of our forever Faithful Shepherd.
