"The Gospel of Jesus" by Matthew Moss & Roscoe Crawley: The Good News That Breaks Every Chain

Tired of searching? Hope has a name.

Roscoe Crawley brought Matthew Moss a song and asked for help with the bridge. They ended up rewriting parts of the melody together. The result is this song, “The Gospel of Jesus”, a song about who Jesus was, is, and is to come.

Matthew Moss x Roscoe Crawley - The Gospel of JesusYou can hear that aim in every verse. The song starts with “If you’re tired, searching for more,” speaking to anyone who is running on empty. It then points to “a light that darkness cannot overcome.” Not some technique or a program for the elite. That light is Jesus, “the living God with us,” who healed, taught, forgave, and silenced every fear.

Matthew hopes that one line will settle deep in your heart: “It is freedom for captives and life to the grave.” He shares: “I want you to feel that truth resonate deep within your soul, knowing that this message is the reason I’m saved, and it’s available to everyone.” That is a big promise. Ask yourself, what chain have you been carrying with you for years? Is it shame, fear, a habit you cannot shake?

The apostle Paul speaks to that chain in Romans 1:16: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.” Hold on to the power of His Word. His Gospel does not hand you tips for managing your chains. It breaks them!

So bring whatever is running you dry to the cross today. Call out to Him and your burdens out loud. Then stand where the third verse of this song stands: “Now I’m standing in resurrection love.” Your past no longer gets the last word. Worship follows naturally. The bridge keeps offering it: “I’ll give all of my worship, I’ll give all of my praise.” Will you join in?

Give “The Gospel of Jesus” a listen. Sing along with the chorus, and let it carry you from tired to free. “The gospel of Jesus is all of my hope. It is power to break every chain. It is freedom for captives and life to the grave. Oh the gospel of Jesus, is the reason I am saved.”

Background:

Matthew Moss shares: "The Gospel of Jesus" started as a song Roscoe brought to me to help with the bridge. We ended up diving into rewriting parts of the melody and crafting it into something beautiful, that we hope conveys who Jesus Christ was, is, and is to come. He is the Good News. He is the Savior of the world. He is the reason I am saved! Our greatest hope for "The Gospel of Jesus" is that it helps people encounter the Living God. Recognize that Jesus has the power to break every chain! When you hear the words, "It is freedom for captives and life to the grave," I want you to feel that truth resonate deep within your soul, knowing that this message is the reason I'm saved, and it's available to everyone.
