"Whoop The Devil" by Destin Dumais: Standing in Christ's Authority

Who gave you the authority to stand firm?

Destin Dumais opens his debut single with an amazing sound that excites, gets you up on your feet, and gets you ready to conquer. “Whoop The Devil” is a hard-hitting country-rock song with one clear message: As believers, we hold real authority in Christ!

Destin Dumais - Whoop The DevilThe song starts with a cowboy scene. “Gonna saddle up and ride, ain’t no place you can hide.” Then comes the line that makes an important difference: “Been deputized, authorized.” Nobody appoints himself to this work. The badge was handed over at Calvary.

Jesus said it plainly in Luke 10:19: “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.” Who gives the authority? Jesus does! This kind of confidence never relies on your strength, your mood, or your track record. This confidence rests on His name, and His name only!

Does that now mean that our fears will disappear for good? Not always. Destin admits that the road runs “through the darkest valley” from time to time, but that doesn’t stop him from walking and talking with the Savior, and neither should it stop you. The following verse in James 4:7 backs this up: “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Resist. Don’t negotiate!

The song fires us up and looks at results. “Gonna kick down prison gates, set the captives free.” Authority is not for show. It’s a tool used for rescue. Who in your life is stuck behind a locked gate? Pray for that person today, and tell them what happened on Calvary. “Gonna seek and find the lost, tell em about the cross.” Follow His lead in finding the way to tell others in a manner that works best for them.

Stand up straight, there’s nothing there to fear. Speak the name of Jesus over your loved ones, your home, your worries, and your week. Now press play on this song and let that driving rhythm remind you whose side wins. “Gonna whoop the devil back to the pits of hell”

"Spirit of God" by Joel Lane: Surrendering Hearts of Stone to the Holy Spirit

What dead places in your life need breath? “Spirit of God” by Joel Lane is written as a plea for the Holy Spirit to move among us, and shows us that our best response to spiritual dryness is surrender. It is the first release from his debut EP “Have Your Way,” recorded with Zac Carpenter of the worship collective Coming Kingdom. The song opens with a bold claim: “You make dry bones come alive.” Maybe you’re familiar with that kind of spiritual dryness. A marriage gone quiet. A prayer life that is running on habit, with routine words that sometimes make you wonder if they go up any higher than your ceiling. A heart that stopped feeling much of anything. Joel doesn’t ask God to just patch things up. He asks God for more: “Take our hearts of stone, breathe on us.” That’s a pretty brave prayer. Will you pray it? Ezekiel stood in more or less the same place (read Ezekiel 37:1–11). God sent him into a valley of scattered, bleached bones and asked a question that sounds impossible: “Can the...

"He Knew" by Krystal Dawn Land: The Cost Christ Chose Before the Cradle

Jesus knew everything, and He came anyway! Let’s go back to the birth of Jesus, a newborn lying in the manger, part of a larger plan and fully aware of where His path would end before He came to earth. Krystal Dawn Land’s song, “He Knew”, opens with a question that stops you cold, especially if you consider how you would respond: “What if He knew? What if He saw? What if He knew the pain He’d face to give it all?” This isn’t idle speculation. The song walks through the full arc of Jesus’ story, “from the cradle to the cross” , and insists that nothing that happened caught Him off guard. He saw the betrayal coming. He saw the doubt, the walking away, “some would not believe, some would walk away.” And still, as Krystal sings, “He did… He knew all along. He still came… to right every wrong.” That kind of foreknowledge changes how we read Isaiah 53:3–5, where the prophet describes the Messiah as “despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows.” Jesus wasn’t ambushed by suffering. He wal...

"Consider the Lilies" by Madison Earl: A Gentle Call to Trade Worry for Trust

Who carries your worries when they feel too heavy? Arizona worship leader Madison Earl wrote “Consider the Lilies” for anyone who has lain awake worrying about tomorrow’s problems. It is the third of four original songs she plans to release in 2026. The message for this song is inspired by Matthew 6:26–34. Madison’s hope is that listeners remember that “they don’t have to carry everything on their own.” The chorus asks the questions we all ask. “What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?” Your questions may also be about an increase in rent, unpaid bills, test results, a difficult boss, a wayward child, and more… all of those questions fit. Then comes the answer: “He’s always there.” Jesus made the same point when He was sitting on a hillside. He told his listeners, “Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.” Then he asked, “Are you not of more value than they?” Ask yourself that same questio...
