What do you do when life feels dry? The desert will strip everything down to what really matters. No shade, no shortcuts, no distractions — just you, the heat of the sun, your thirst, and the question of where you’ll turn. “Psalm 63” by Melody and Truth opens figuratively in that place, and borrows the lyrics straight from David’s own wilderness prayer (Psalm 63:1–3). David’s wilderness prayer doesn’t rush past the pain, and neither does this song. It repeats David, verse by verse, as a choir-backed declaration that changes our view: “Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you.” That’s the turn this song shares. It’s not about going around the desert, but going through it. David wrote these words while he was literally hiding in a wilderness, hunted and exhausted. Despite his circumstances, he wrote: “O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water” (Psalm 63...

Do you ever feel unqualified for what God is calling you to?  You’re not alone. We think we need to be polished, put-together, and proven before God can use us for anything meaningful. Taylor Pride wrote “Any Vessel” to dismantle that lie.  Taylor shares: “‘Any Vessel’ was written as a reminder that God isn’t looking for flawless people — He’s looking for hearts that are willing to say “yes” to Him… His strength is made perfect in our weakness, and His grace is greater than our failures.”  The lyrics don’t ask for talent or perfect track records. It asks to come with “open hands” and “a willing heart.” Taylor writes about bringing “the empty jar” instead of a full one — a striking picture, because who offers an empty jar and expects it to be useful? What’s holding back your praise today?   A piano riff started it all. A choir leader lost in the words of a song, feeling something shift in his spirit. That’s how “I Will Dance” by Arnex began, long before Emmanuel Smith came on board. Arnex met Emmanuel Smith, who was ministering at their youth event, and something clicked instantly. Arnex shares: “I was immediately struck by how genuinely down-to-earth, warm, and authentic he is. I connected with him instantly.” What came out of that connection wasn’t polished or restrained. Ready to see God move today? Kristin wrote “A New Thing!” during a season of real change. This is her third new release this year, and there is a growing group of listeners tuning in to her songs, and that’s not a coincidence. The message in “A New Thing!” emphasizes that something changes when we stop waiting for permission and start expecting God to act. Expecting God to act isn’t the same as expecting God to do what you think you need. This expectation becomes clearer when you listen to the chorus: “See He is doing a new thing // See what blessings He will bring.” Notice that there is an instruction tucked inside the lyrics — see it. Perceive it. Don’t let it pass you by.  The song doesn’t shy away from the hard stuff either. “He came to save the lost man // If only he’d receive it.” Receiving requires surrender and the willingness to accept what is given. The song is a fun pop song that’s easy to listen to, utilizing vivid imagery of God’s beautiful creations to draw the listener toward a sense of gratitude and worship. Oludee beautifully paints a picture through her well-written lyrics of a world carefully crafted by God’s hand. References to the trees of the field (0:20), the changing seasons (0:47, 1:32), and the sun and clouds (1:19) emphasize that nature is a testament to God’s “masterpiece” (2:49). Can your own strength really wash away shame? Pride has a cost. In the song “Trust in Him”, John Long lays out that price in this warm, folk-driven track, tracing a familiar road: chasing your own desires, putting your name above everything else, then watching the fires catch up. He sings, “I knew I couldn’t outrun all the fires that came from putting pride on my name.” Most of us know that road because we’ve already walked it. But John doesn’t stay there long. The lyrics turn. “Hell started laughin’,” John sings, “but it turned to fear when the stone rolled away.” That’s the pivot point in this song. Death didn’t win.
