Worship isn’t a reaction — it’s a decision that you make daily. Some songs get written on the mountaintop, when everything feels easy and gratitude flows naturally. “Bless the Lord” by Upgrade Worship and Benjamin Israel wasn’t. This song grew out of a conviction that praise shouldn’t depend on your circumstances at all. Benjamin shares: “Your circumstances may change, but God remains worthy of your praise.” Think about your own week. How much of your worship was tied to how things were going for you? The song reminds us that there isn’t a trade-off. “ I’ll praise You on the mountain, even in the valley,” the verse declares, pairing morning with noontime, and ease with trial. Nothing here is contingent. Every line in the song insists that praise belongs in every condition, not just the comfortable ones. When did you last stop and remember who God is? Life moves fast, doesn’t it? Bills pile up, seasons shift, and our attention drifts toward whatever crisis is loudest that day. True Vine wrote “In Awe of You” to interrupt that drift. The song pulls our eyes off our circumstances and points them back to God Himself — not what He’s done for us lately, but who He simply is. Drawing from the names Scripture gives Him — Elohim, Adonai, El Shaddai, the Great I Am — the lyrics declare, “Who compares to You?” That’s not a rhetorical flourish. It’s an honest question worth sitting with. Think about the weight in a name like El Shaddai, God Almighty, or Adonai, Lord and Master. These aren’t titles pulled from nowhere. Each of His names is a testimony. Testimonies by people who have witnessed how He provided, protected, and stayed faithful when nothing else proved to be steady. The lyrics call Him “Faithful and True,” and the bridge declares: “The heavens are roaring, declaring Your glory.” This...

You are not out of reach of His love. Some wounds can convince us that we’ve wandered past the point of rescue. Lauren Gruwell wrote “How You See Me” from that place. She admits, “I always feel like I’m the only one who’s out of reach of your loving arms to bring me peace.” Have you ever felt that way? Like grace works for everyone, except for you? The song doesn’t pretend that the doubts we feel aren’t real. It asks hard questions instead of hiding those doubts: “If you are the Savior of the world, oh can you tell me, if you can save me from myself?” Don’t mistake that as weak faith. That’s honest faith, the kind God actually meets. Read Isaiah 43:4: “Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you.” He loves you!! Not because you cleaned yourself up first. Not because you earned a place back in His arms. He calls you ‘precious’ while you’re still standing in the mess. Let that sink in. Why is it more blessed to give than to receive? Fear of lack is often the reason why a lot of hands are tightly closed. Gresha Schuilling’s song “More Blessed” names that fear and suggests a different way to live. “Freely I’ve received, freely I will give,” she sings, echoing a truth that (if we take it to heart) reshapes how we see everything we hold. Redemption isn’t a feeling — it’s a fact you can stand on.  “Redeemed / The Solid Rock” by Jonathan Abel is a beautiful medley that brings us back to what Christ has accomplished and promised us. In the backstory, Jonathan shares how hardship kept him back to the cross, over and over, until he finally understood something: Christ has already accomplished what we spend our lives chasing. Jonathan describes himself as “prone to wander,” but every wandering path led him back to His grace. That’s the tension most believers live in daily. We know the truth, but we still drift. He gives us guidance, and we’re already thinking about where to tweak it.  The lyrics come right to the point. “Redeemed! How I love to proclaim it! Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. Redeemed through his infinite mercy. His child and forever I am.” Note that last line. “His child and forever I am.” Forever. Not until circumstances change. God’s promises hold, even when the path looks unclear. We feel a certain restlessness when we can’t see where we’re going. In “Promise & The Path”, OTALA names that struggle: “I’ll admit that I’ve been restless, a little impatient through the night.” Sound familiar? Most of us have tried to hand God our own version of a “better” plan, forgetting that His ways rarely look like ours. The song’s heart lies in a simple confession — we get so fixed on the destination that we miss all of the beauty that is happening right in front of us. The song reminds us that “Far beyond the destination, it’s clear to see the journey’s not a waste of time.” Every twist, every waiting season, carries purpose… His purpose.  The song echoes the message found in Zechariah 4:6: “Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.” Growth doesn’t come from striving harder or figuring it all out.
