New Christian Music Releases For Friday, December 1st, 2023 (Possibly the last New Music Overview that we can publish in this form)

Here are the new Christian Music releases that we have gathered for you over the past week. This overview contains releases in the genres: Christian Contemporary Music (CCM), Christian EDM (CEDM), and Gospel. 

At the end of this post, you can find links to our playlists with recent releases. Upcoming Thursday we will share an overview of the most popular songs that were released today (based on the number of streams).

We're not sure how long we'll be able to keep publishing this overview...

Spotify recently laid off a large number of their employees, including a data scientist who was publishing the extracts that we use as a source for our reviews every Friday. It is unclear whether or not this service will continue.

"Your Love" by Kevin Winebarger - When Mercy Becomes Your Identity

Kevin Winebarger teamed up with Joshua Frerichs and Benji Cowart to create this beautiful song. "Your Love" tackles that discouraging voice we all hear from time to time, the one that whispers that we're not enough and that we are defined by our past. "Once a liar, always a liar," and all kinds of variations along this same line of thought. This song isn't about wallowing in shame. "Your Love" is a celebration of the grace that changes everything.  The opening lines hit hard: "I could believe that I'm not enough // It's clear to see I don't measure up." Yep, we've all been there! But this isn't how God want us to be defined… He loved us first! "It's just what You've done // Because of Your love." That's the heart of everything.  Kevin places the change the God brings into perspective, "I could believe that my mistakes // Will follow me down into the grave // But I'm not who I was....

"Is Anybody There? (Psalm 27)" by Stephen M. Miller: Holding On to Grace at Heaven’s Door

Stephen M. Miller's "Is Anybody There? (Psalm 27)" comes in the quiet aftermath of the Christmas celebrations, when reflection can feel like isolation. Stephen's song isn't about polishing away his mistakes, nor does it encourage you to do so with your mistakes. Stephen shares his painful experience, "I never saw it coming Lord // It felt right but it was wrong // Family and friends have left me // But I still have you and a song."   Stephen owns the fallout of his actions, taking accountability without despair.
