“He’s Not Far Away” by Ben & Tyra Byrne is the closing track on their upcoming EP. It builds up, particularly from the 1min 14sec mark up to 2min 40sec, where the climb turns the song into something massive. That climb in the music mirrors an important message… “Though the road looks rocky // And the walk feels lonely” and at the end of the climb it mirrors the realization that “He’s not far away // He’s close!”

But why do we so often hide our empty hands instead of naming them? Why do we often think that God doesn’t see us and the situation that we’re in? “El Roi, the God who sees, the God who hears, He knows you.” His name “El Roi” comes straight from Genesis 16:13, where Hagar, alone and desperate in the wilderness, calls God “You are a God of seeing.” She wasn’t forgotten, and neither are you. 

Here’s what that means for you today, for your sleepless nights, your waiting room. God’s awareness of you doesn’t take a break when your circumstances get messy. He doesn’t need updates. He’s not far away, tracking your situation from a distance. Nope! He’s close by, the way the chorus insists, twice, as if once wasn’t enough to convince you. 

So name the empty hands. Say the hard things you're facing out loud. Tell God, even though He already knows, tell Him in your own voice. Let Him in on the waiting, because hope grows better in His company than in isolation. 

Play this song, turn up the volume loud enough to feel that climb. Let this song do what Christian music does best: move His truth from your head into your heart. “He’s not far away. No. He’s close.”

"Paper Lantern Heart" by MK Green: When God Lights a Fire You Can't Contain

What happens when God lights a fire in you?  Some fires refuse to stay hidden. MK Green wrote “Paper Lantern Heart” around that exact truth, inspired by Jeremiah 20:9, where the prophet admits that he tried to stop preaching but simply couldn’t. "Stand By Me" by Daniel Aranda: Finding Steadiness in Life's Storms

Who’s standing with you in the storm? “Stand By Me” by Daniel Aranda is an amazing rendition of a hymn written by Charles Albert Tindley in 1905. Tindley was the son of a former slave, a man who knew what it meant to need help that wasn’t guaranteed. He didn’t write from comfort. He wrote from the middle of a fight, and that’s exactly why the song is still so relevant and cherished by many today. Daniel Aranda’s recording brings gospel legends Terry Blackwood and Charlie McCoy into that same lineage, carrying Tindley’s plea forward into a new generation.  The lyrics move through life’s troubles, one verse at a time. “When the storms of life are raging, stand by me”  — that’s not poetic exaggeration.
