What does it mean to give God everything?  A staircase doesn’t seem like sacred ground. But that’s exactly the place where “Living Sacrifice” by Abayomi Adewuyi was born — a quiet pause, a nudge from the Holy Spirit, and words that turned into worship. Abayomi didn’t set out to write an anthem. He simply stopped long enough to listen.  The result contains a question that we constantly wrestle with: What do we actually owe God? The song shares an answer. “All that I have, they come from You // All that I am, grace has bestowed.” The fact is that nothing we hold is truly ours. Ever felt too proud to ask for help? Greg Rider Farrell wrote “Try Church (Radio Edit)” during a season when he was really lost and decided that he needed to try church. He once believed the world sat in the palm of his hand. Empty shows and one-night plans filled the space where real connections should have lived. He didn’t know a Friend was sitting on the nightstand — waiting, patient, unnoticed. Pride kept him stuck. Greg sings: “Too damn proud to give in and realize I’m the one who needed help this time.” Have you ever felt that same resistance? God sees what others can’t see in you. Maria Segerholm released a song called “It’s OK to Be Broken”. Two years ago, Maria suffered a rare type of stroke. The physical damage healed faster than anyone expected. But the brain fog and chronic fatigue stayed, invisible to everyone around her. What will change when Grace rewrites your story?  “I’m Not My Yesterday” by Howard Gripp is about walking away from a version of himself that he wasn’t proud of. He admits that he lived some lies and played some games, thinking that he was in control the whole time. Then God interrupted him. “… You called me out and broke my chains,” he sings, and that line captures the key message of the song. Howard shares: “We all have things we’re not proud of, but they don’t have to define us.” Those chains don’t loosen themselves on their own. Someone besides us has to break them, and He is closer than we often realize while we’re bound.  The chorus emphasizes what God does: “Grace has washed my past away.” Not covered. Not managed. Washed away! Howard’s hope for each of us is simple — no matter where we’ve been, we can still change. That’s not wishful thinking. What happens when God lights a fire in you?  Some fires refuse to stay hidden. MK Green wrote “Paper Lantern Heart” around that exact truth, inspired by Jeremiah 20:9, where the prophet admits that he tried to stop preaching but simply couldn’t. The Word burned inside him “like a fire shut up in my bones.” Green’s lyrics echo that same struggle: “Behind the bones inside my chest there burns a paper heart.” Cold turns to burning. Silence turns to song. “I was cold as stone until You lit a spark,” the chorus declares, and something about that image sticks with you long after the music fades.  Here’s the question worth pondering: What do you do when God ignites something in you that won’t stay quiet?  Jeremiah tried holding it in, and that exhausted him. “There is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot” (Jeremiah 20:9). What if your giving is meant to multiply?  A farmer never plants his last seed. He knows the harvest depends on what he’s willing to release into the ground. Gresha Schuilling captures that picture in “Seed to the Sower,” singing, “I won’t hold what You intended // To be planted when I sow.” God doesn’t just meet our needs. He hands us seed with a purpose attached to it. What we do with that seed determines whether it multiplies or sits untouched in a drawer.  The apostle Paul writes about this principle in 2 Corinthians 9:10–11: “He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way.”   Notice the order here. God supplies first. He multiplies second. What if nothing you chase can truly fill the emptiness?  Emptiness has a way of following you around, no matter how fast you run. You chase a feeling (or things you believe will get you higher up “the ladder”), land on it for a moment, and then watch it slip through your fingers again. Joel Lane captures that feeling of restlessness in the opening lines of his song “Come Alive”: “Emptiness, chasing a feeling, trying to fill the void inside.” Sound familiar? Most of us have spent years searching for a purpose that felt just out of our reach.  Joel sings about how something happened that put everything in a different perspective. “You opened my eyes, now I see the light, I’m never going back.” That’s not a small statement.
