Dave Whitcroft (KDMusic) - A Wexford Carol (Do Not Be Afraid) (CCM - Xmas)

Dave Whitcroft (KDMusic) - A Wexford Carol (Do Not Be Afraid)
Dave Whitcroft (KDMusic) has released a  Christmas Christian Contemporary Music (CCM) track called A Wexford Carol (Do Not Be Afraid).

The new version of this Irish carol from the 12th century offers additional bridges as well as choral parts intended for use as part of Christmas services by both novice and experienced choirs. The song is based on the story of Luke chapter 2: the shepherds, angels, and young Mary. As opposed to the original version, which elegantly skips past the shepherds' shock and fear at the encounter with the angel, this version emphasizes the central biblical words of the angel: "Do not be afraid!'', and the heavenly proclamation: 'Glory to the King, whose time has come, born for everyone!'. Heaven's most common instruction to mankind is, "DO NOT BE AFRAID." It is an especially powerful and pertinent message from God's word as we enter the second winter of the current COVID pandemic.

The lyrics, chords, lead sheet, mp3, this video, backing tracks, AND stems for recording a video performance are all FREE to download from the KDMusic website (https://kdmusic.co.uk).

PS: Don't forget you need CCLI licenses for church or school use AND for streaming.

Lyrics:

Verse 1

Good people all this Christmas time
Consider well and bear in mind
What our good God for us has done
In sending His beloved Son
Like Mary lowly we should pray
To God with love this Christmas day
In Bethlehem upon that morn
There was a blessed Messiah born

Verse 2

Near Bethlehem did shepherds keep
Their flocks of lambs and feeding sheep
To whom God's angels did appear
Which put the shepherds in great fear
Arise and go the angel said
To Bethlehem be not afraid
For there you'll find this happy morn
A princely babe sweet Jesus born

Bridge

Do not be afraid do not be afraid
Do not be afraid do not be afraid
Do not be afraid do not be afraid
Do not be afraid

Verse 3

With thankful heart and joyful mind
The shepherds went that Babe to find
And as God's angel had foretold
They did our Saviour Christ behold
Within a manger He was laid
And by his side the virgin maid
As long foretold upon that morn
There was a blessed Messiah born

Bridge

Glory to the king hear the angel sing
Now his time has come born for everyone
Glory to the king hear the angel sing
Now his time has come born for everyone
Glory to the king Hear the angel sing
Do not be afraid Do not be afraid
Glory to the king Hear the angel sing
Do not be afraid

Verse 4

Good people all this Christmas time
Consider well and bear in mind
What our good God for us has done
In sending His beloved Son
Like Mary lowly we should pray
To God with love this Christmas day
In Bethlehem upon that morn
There was a blessed Messiah born

'Lonely Dirt Road' by Dax: A Journey to Solitude and God

Dax's 'Lonely Dirt Road' is a conversation that Dax has with himself and God. Dax shares his journey of turning mental health walks into healing solitary drives. As you listen, you can almost feel the cruise, where it's just you, your thoughts, and God.  The chorus is so relatable: 'When I need space, that's where I go, a place to escape that nobody knows.' What do you do when life's pressures stack high? Do you also have a space where you can let go? That lonely dirt road that Dax sings about symbolizes solitude, but it is also an incredible opportunity for connecting with God.  Dax's honesty is raw and relatable. 'I didn't want my family to see me cry… dealing with the pressure of trying to provide.' There are times when we all put on a smile to hide how challenging situations may be. Like his father, Dax says that he finds peace on this lonely road, where challenges become opportunities to grow. This shows the core of our faith: that...

"You Came And Found Me" by Recovered Crown: A Journey from Pain to Purpose

"You Came And Found Me" by Recovered Crown is about the healing God brought after having been trapped in a cycle of deeply hurtful relationships for years and the strength she found to truly step into her calling. She experienced harmful relationships as a child and as an adult, and reached a point where she was completely exhausted. "I didn't know how much of myself I had lost trying to survive," she shares. "But even in the darkest moments, God never stopped pursuing me."   The song reflects the change God brought into her life: "In a desperate state, in a broken place // You came and found me." It's not only a song for anyone who has been in similar situations but also for anyone who feels abandoned or even voiceless. There is always hope, "You're all that I need and so much more." It's God who truly heals, and He is always within your reach, no matter how bad the situation looks: "Hallelujah, I am restored in...

"None Like You" by Salt: Surrendering to the Pursuit of His Love

"None Like You" by Salt is a powerful song about the wonder and holiness of God, written by the Southern California duo Brian Albright and Kadi Zabka. The song has a powerful melody, honest lyrics, and encourages us to pause regularly to worship Him, and focus on His presence.  It's so easy to get distracted by the chaos of life, a chaos that can shout louder than our longing for His presence and distract us from realizing that His love and grace for us is unique. Step away from those distractions and realize that nothing else compares to what He gives us. "I won't go searching any longer // All that I need is what you're offering me." Salt describes His love as "a kind of love that's like no other,"  and it's a kind of love that cannot be found in 'the world'. Sadly, it's not just the chaos of the world around us that distracts, we also experience chaos in our lives, felt in our heart and mind, and it distracts us from rea...
